Delicious.

My photos are being stubborn today, so bear with me.  The subject today is delicious...partly because Aaron was making a pizza and partly because I was not feeling particularly creative today (or yesterday with my "Attendance" blog)...

I will find inspiration tomorrow.  I hope.

So "delicious"...obviously those stuffed peppers look (and tasted) delicious...I randomly had this picture, probably to prove that something useful came out of our little garden.  I love when a plate has lots of different color on it...have you ever had a plate that is all beige?  Ewweee!

The peppers and diced tomatoes are from our garden, and the hamburger is from my parents farm...the rest is store bought.  I try to be green and organic - but nothing is perfect and to remain budget friendly we do the best we can, when we can.

We also have some serious tomatoes ripening on our vines.  The tomato plants are starting to remind me of Audrey II (from Little Shop of Horrors...it's a giant crazy plant) so we will have to figure out how to remedy that next year.  There are certainly worse problems than "too many tomatoes" and I am looking forward to making spaghetti sauce.

Note to self, plant half as many tomatoes next summer....
Our garden kinda blows my mind.  I put some little green plants in the dirt, add water and sunshine and now I have...food?!  This summer we have enjoyed bell peppers, fresh lettuce, banana peppers, jalapenos and several varieties of tomatoes that have grown beautifully with minimal effort on our part.  I plan to enjoy them through the winter too, as I have diced and froze some peppers and will do the same with tomatoes...I am not a canner, I may be a DIY girl but I do not have that kind of patience.
Anyhoo, my big bowl of tomatoes got me thinking about the influence of food in home decor.  What a great, accessible inspiration!  As I walked around my home snapping pictures, I realized the influence of food is everywhere!

From the basic things like a fruit bowl....

...or a bowl of fake fruit...

...an apothecary full of fruit...

...centerpiece...

This is a little bit of a stretch, but so many people have wine racks in their homes or kitchens with vino themes.

Aaron really likes industrial, rustic items.  His office is decorated in advertisement memorabilia (one of his majors at SDSU was Advertising) including this printing plate with an apple cider ad.

Candle fragrances are inspired by deserts, fruits etc..

People have been painting bowls of fruit for decades!  Not to mention fabric prints, servingware, art, cookie jars, table cloths, curtains and the list goes on and on.  My walls colors are even chocolate, vanilla, caramel and "spicy pepper."  What kind of food influences do you have in your home?  I'm sure you all have lots of examples, maybe you just didn't notice before.  :)

Think about holidays and seasons and the influence food has on them....

Watermelon and hotdogs-4th of July
Turkey, pumpkins and pie-Thanksgiving
Green beer, corned beef and cabbage-St. Patty's Day
soup-Winter
Ice cream and grilling-summer
Eggs-Easter
Chocolates-Valentine's Day
Cookies-Christmas
New Years Eve-cocktails
Caramel apples and candy-Halloween
Mystery salads and casseroles-family reunions  :)

Does your family have any unusual food traditions?  Aaron's Grandma makes "Hamballs" for Easter, my grandpa loved goose at Christmas and my grandma Linda makes oyster stew for all holidays.  They may sound strange, but they are all delicious and the holidays wouldn't be the same without them.

I actually had no intention of including the pets in this post, but when I was all done snapping
pictures I walked past these ice cream bar rubber dog toys and it just made me giggle.

Food really is everywhere!

Noelle
